The specifications of X99 Extreme11 motherboard by ASRock have become known. The Taiwan company’s assortment has been enriched with the top model. Extreme11 is the flagship of a desktop series, which combines all possible technical characteristics. Especially, it concerns the motherboard on Intel X99 chipset.
ASRock uses only mechanical PCIe 3.0 x16 expansion slots; there are five of them. In the middle, there are two M.2 ports; each of them is connected with CPU Haswell-E by four PCIe 3.0 lines and operates at the rate of 32 Gbps. The subsystem of the processor’s power supply unit depends on 12 phases; also, MOSFET Dual-N transistors are used. Moreover, there are 8 DDR4 memory slots. ASRock claims that they allow installing up to 128 GB memory into the system.
An important peculiarity of the motherboard is storage devices connectivity. Apart from ten native SATA 6G ports, eight more SATA 6G / SAS3 ports, which are connected via LSI SAS 3008 controller, are offered. Thus, 18 storage devices can be installed. Furthermore, two eSATA 6G connectors on the input/output panel are at a user’s disposal. Purity Sound 2 sound system is applied here.
It is strange that X99 Extreme11 has only eight USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 interfaces. Although it does not provide Wi-Fi function, it contains two Gigabit LAN controllers. Still, the motherboard is perfect.
PEX8747 switchboards (there are two of them) usage is typical for X99 series. Each of them supports 48 PCIe 3.0 lines, taking part of them from Haswell-E CPU.
It doesn’t matter what processor is used: Core i7-5930K, Core i7-5820K or Core i7-5960X. Using any of them, the work of up to four NVidia or AMD graphic cards of Multi-GPU configuration is possible due to two PCIe Gen3 switchboards.
The motherboard has become even more convenient because now it is equipped with power and reset buttons, BIOS switch and debugger display.
It is still early to name the price for X99 Extreme11 motherboard by ASRock. |
