Samsung represents Exynos 7 Octa processor for mobile devices

Samsung has announced new Exynos 7 Octa processor, which is based on big. LITTLE architecture. Its productiveness while implementing resource-intensive tasks astounds. It can be images and graphics processing, face and eyes recognizing, etc.

It is equipped with 64-bit ARM Cortex-A50 processor cores: fore ARM Cortex-A57 and four ARM Cortex-A53. The processor is claimed to enhance the level of productiveness by 57 percent comparing to the chips, released earlier (Exynos 5 Octa, for example). At the same time, it is more power efficient.

Besides, Samsung Exynos 7 Octa is provided with GPU ARM Mali T-760 that allows increasing the efficiency of graphic subsystem by 74 percent. However, it is unknown what exactly has been improved and what distinguishes it from GPU Mali T-760, applied in Exynos 5433.

It has been noted that the processor supports WQHD (2560 х 1440) and WQXGA (2560 х 1600) image resolution together with H.265 (HEVC) codec. It is possible to output the image on UHD TVs. In addition, they say that with the help of this processor, it is possible to shoot high resolution videos or take photos using both cameras of the device simultaneously. Internal double signal processor enables to make 16-megapixel videos at 30 fps for a rear camera and 5-megapixel videos at 30 fps for a front one.

Unfortunately, much about Exynos 7 Octa processor stays veiled. One can only suppose that LTE modem is included to SoC configuration. However, the mystery promises to be dispelled in spring 2015 when first devices on the basis of Samsung Exynos 7 will be put out.

There is a hypothesis that Exynos 7 Octa is nothing else but Exynos 5433 that carries GALAXY Note 4. Maybe, some improvements have been added; still, the product is the same, but called differently.
