Samsung launches DDR4 32 GB memory modules production

Those, who intend to use their PC on the basis of Haswell-E to the full, have to resign themselves to certain limitations. They are connected with the fact that DDR4 memory modules capacity does not exceed 16 GB (combined with motherboards, it can reach 64 GB). Although most producers have already planned to release more powerful models, the ones will become available in the middle of 2015 at the earliest.

However, it is obvious that Samsung has left its rivals behind, referring to this problem. As the concern reports, it has already got down to producing DDR4 modules with 8 Gb chips according to 20 nm technology. The production of the specific modules has begun not that long ago. Meanwhile, the South Korean company confines clock frequency of PC4-19200U 32 GB models up to 2.400 MHz. Technically, there can appear the modules with 128 GB chips.

At the moment, it stays unknown, when DDR4 modules of larger capacity will be released and when they will be available in the market. At any rate, Samsung is going to use the new models in the high-end corporate sphere. Nonetheless, some stores possess 16 GB modules from the manufacturer, designed for such needs.

The price for 32 GB modules also is unknown yet. If to take into consideration that sets with total memory capacity of 32 GB cost about €350, then it can be that separate modules will be even more expensive.

In all likelihood, 3D TSV technology is applied in new 8 Gb chips production. According to it, numerous layers are connected with memory units, which are interact with each other. This very technology is used in manufacturing SSD of 850 Pro series.
