Philips can become the first company that will create smartphones on the basis of YunOS 3.0 platform, taking the lead over the Chinese Meizu.
YunOS (full name is Aliyun OS) is the operating system founded on Linux exclusively for smartphones; it is the updated Android version, in which Google services are replaced by backup apps supported by this OS. As of May 2012, about a million of Aliyun-based smartphones were sold.
Meizu was believed to install YunOS 3.0 on its gadgets first. As it is known, Meizu introduced its MX4 smartphone a month ago, although most potential users keep waiting for an improved version, which is to be released very soon. It is expected that it will have a 20-megapixel rear camera and 13-megapixel front one; its display will be of 5.4 inches with 2560х1536-pixel resolution; it will function on 8-core Exynos 5430 processor and have 3 GB RAM.
Next Monday, October 20, Philips will present its new Aurora 1966 smartphone controlled by YunOS 3.0. There are even chances that Philips and Meizu will introduce their innovative devices simultaneously.
They say that Philips Aurora 1966 will be equipped with 5.5-inch display of 2560 × 1600-pixel resolution and two slots for SIM cards; it will support 4G LTE and 4K video. However, at the moment, it is impossible to verify these data. Other smartphone’s characteristics are unknown. Probably, this model is just the first one on the way of creating Aurora smartphones series by Philips. |
