Dell Venue 8 7000 is the thinnest existing tablet

Dell Inc. has represented its Venue 8 7000 tablet at Intel Developer Forum 2014. It is considered to be the thinnest tablet up to now being only 6 mm in thickness, having deprived Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact of this title.

Dell Venue 8 700 has 8.4-inch display of 2560 x 1600-pixel resolution and operates on Intel Atom Z3500 processor. It has an angular case; still, it is very convenient. At the front, under the screen, there are speaker and front camera objective. Almost the whole rear panel is covered with metal plate, in which two RealSense camera’s objectives come into view. Below, on the plastic part, there is an objective of a usual rear camera. It seems that no tablet has had such number of cameras before.

On the left side from above, the tablet has a power button and button of volume control. On the end face, you can find a headphone jack and micro USB port. On the right side from below, there is a slot for SIM card; on the same side from above, two pins can be found. However, the company’s representatives did not explain what they are for – whether for a battery charging connector or docking station port.

Dell Venue 8 7000’s rear camera supports post-focus (a user can capture the focus after having taken a photo), reacts to the changes of the objects’ size in picture, allows applying different distance-referenced filters and creating video clips with parallax effect.
