Gigabyte has replenished its inventory of motherboards with a new micro-ATX model based on Intel H97 chipset. The GA-H97M-D3HP is able to offer ‘full-format’ facilities at an affordable price. The most peculiar characteristic attributed to this model is the support for M.2 drives, accompanied by four SATA III 6 Gb/sec ports and a single SATA Express port for the connection of ODD and other storage solutions.
Gigabyte GA-H97M-D3HP features Intel Socket LGA1150 that shows compatibility with Intel Core (4th and 5th generation), Intel Celeron, Intel Pentium CPUs. The board employs 4-phase VRM system and boasts proprietary Ultra Durable hardware base. The latter offers high-quality solid-state capacitors, ferrite chokes, transistors with low free-flow resistance, and gold-plated contacts in CPU socket environment. Moreover, this model comes with two BIOS chips which facilitate monitoring, control and overclocking processes.
Taking into account security measures, Gigabyte has improved PCB textolite with a fiberglass embedding; it protects the components from humidity and short circuit. In addition, there are dedicated circuits which are called to avert overvoltage, overheating, low power, and other abnormal working conditions.
To proceed with an overview, this model features 4 DIMM slots for DDR3 memory kits (two-channel operational mode) with the maximum of 1600 MHz frequency and up to 32 GB capacity. Expansion might be realized due to a single PCI-e 3.0 x 16 slot, a single PCI-e 2.0 x16 slot, and two PCI-e 2.0 x1 slots. This enables the creation of AMD CrossFire multi-GPU configurations.
Audio subsystem is realized by means of 8-channel Realtek ALC892 controller and prime components, including audio capacitors from Nippon Chemicon. LAN options are ensured by Intel gigabit controller.
The list of external interfaces embraces six audio sockets, one RJ-45, one PS/2 Combo, six USB ports (4x 3.0 v., 2x 2.0 v.), three video ports (HDMI, DVI-D, D-Sub). Internal I/O inventory features one 24-contact ATX socket, one 8-contact ATX 12V socket, one port for CPU fan, three ports for system fans, one S/PDIF out, one COM port, one LPT, one CMOS jumper, one TPM, USB hub, and one connector for frontal panel.
