SilverStone FW and FQ Fans: an Ideal Balance between Efficiency and Tranquility

SilverStone has asserted itself one more time by introducing two lines of fans at a time: the FW and the FQ. Both lineups include four fan models which are distinguished by an optimal balance between efficiency and noise level. The FW models feature blue frames and white blades, whereas the FQ models come with white frames and blue blades. All fans are connected by means of 4-pin PWM connectors; this gives the motherboard all power to control their rotational speed.

SilverStone FW solutions are introduced by FW81, FW91, FW121, and FW122 fans. They are developed on a long-life sleeve bearing with 40.000 hours MTBF index. FW81 rotational speed might vary within the measures of 1200-3000 RPM; herein, it produces up to 29.5 CFM airflow and not more than 30 dB noise. This model is equipped with a rubber fan mount than absorbs noise more efficiently.

FW91 rotates at 1500-2800 RPM speed, producing up to 49.5 CFM airflow. Its maximal noise level achieves 27.7 dB only, due to the employment of anti-vibration rubber fan fixtures. FW121 is able to run at 800-2000 RPM with the maximum of 32.6 CFM airflow index. It produces 24.6 dB noise and starts operating at 5 V voltage limit. FW122 starts rotating at 1000 RPM but might be boosted up to 1800 RPM. Thus, it produces 76.5 CFM airflow and its utmost noise level equals to 28.1 dB.

To proceed with FQ fans, this series consists of four models: FQ81, FQ91, FQ122, FQ141. The latter three items are based on P.C.F. bearings (150.000 hours MTBF), while the first one uses FDB bearing type (50.000 hours MTBF). All of them support pulse-width modulation technology that is called to adjust rotational speed, taking into account existing operational conditions.

Hence, FQ81 starts running at 9V voltage and might accelerate the speed from 1200 RPM to 2800 RPM. It produces 27.5 CFM airflow and 28.5 dB noise. It comes with anti-vibration mounting pads and a speed reduction cable (1450 RPM). FQ91 rotates at 1000-2500 RPM, producing 44.2 CFM airflow. Its noise level during operation makes up 24.8 dB. It also boasts a speed reduction cable estimated for 1150 RPM.

FQ122 fan is able to rotate within the range from 800 RPM to 1500 RPM with the maximal airflow output of 63.8 CFM and the maximal noise level of 24.9 dB. It comes with a speed reduction cable as well (800 RPM). Finally, FQ141 model rotates at 500-1000 RPM, producing 62.0 CFM airflow and 20.7 dB noise. Its shipping kit contains a speed reduction cable estimated for 630 RPM.
