Xerox Printers

Present-day business development would not be so vehement without cutting-edge equipment. Printers, scanners, MFDs, and photocopiers are lay audience in any office, at any enterprise. Those devices are universally used for solving a range of tasks connected with documenting and networking data, though only a few know whom we should pay tribute to for such convenient inventions. It’s all about Xerox!

Xerox Corporation Ltd. is the largest producer of document management systems with a huge workforce and a considerable product portfolio. The company’s heritage goes back to 1906 when The Haloid Photographic Company, specializing in photographic equipment and paper, was established. It was only in 1961 that the firm took the current name. The brand ‘Xerox’ derives from the term ‘xerography’ that takes roots in Greek words meaning ‘dry writing’.

Xerox is headquartered in Norwalk, Connecticut, but the lion’s share of its employees resides in Rochester, New York. The manufacturer now stresses its operation on the design of printers, scanners, photocopiers, fax machines, printing presses, cartridges, toners, ink, and related supplies for consumer, corporate and production segments. Its inventory also includes workflow software solutions.

Depending on the type of line, the designer releases serial devices under different brand names. For instance, its black-and-white and color printers come under Xerox Phaser and ColorQube brands; multifunction black-and-white and color devices come under WorkCenter and ColorQube Phaser brands.

Turning back to the origins, the first automatic plain paper photocopier elaborated by the corporation was Xerox 914. Its facilities allowed for making up to 100.000 copies per month of various size formats. This invention quickly became household, but still had one drawback: overheating during operation.

Furthermore, in 1977 Xerox introduced its proprietary laser printer, following the success of IBM’s analogue products. This launch was the beginning of a multi-billion-dollar business that praised Xerox sky-high.
