Apple Inc. is the American company that devises, produces and markets personal and portable computers, mobile communication devices, media gadgets, software, applications and services, which refer to its products. It is headquartered in Cupertino, California. November 2013, Forbes magazine estimated its value at $104.3 billion that is almost twice as much as the cost of the Microsoft brand ($56.7 billion).

Everything began with Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, when they assembled their first PC on the basis of MOS Technology 6502 processor in 1970s. After having sold several dozens of them, they got financing and officially created Apple Computer, Inc. on April 1, 1976.

Among Apple’s inventions, which are the most popular, are iPads (tablets that are something between MacBook notebooks and iPod portable media players; they allow to watch videos, listen to audio records, read electronic books, browse the Internet and make telephone calls), iPhones (the series of smartphones that function like mini-computers; the main peculiarity is a revolutionary sensor display with Multi-touch technology), iPods (the line of compact media and music players), Mac desktops and laptops. Besides, Apple produces iOS-friendly peripheral devices, such as memory devices, digital cameras and camcorders, pointing devices, and printers, as well as operating systems (OS X, iOS), Apple TV, Apple LED Cinema Display, various applications, and the like. In 2014, the company represented its first wearable device – AppleWatch.

Production of iPhones, iPods and iPads greatly improved the company’s financial position – the profit is unprecedented. In 2011, Apple Inc. became the most expensive world company at market capitalization for the first time, having suppressed ExxonMobil oil company.

Apple’s products can be purchased at Apple Stores (their number is more than 400 all over the world) and web shops (iTunes Store, App Store, Apple Store). The last ones brought a profit of about $18.3 billion to the company in 2013. Due to this, Apple Inc. comes the second after Amazon.com among the most beneficial Internet-retailing companies.

Apple managed to develop perfect reputation and become widely known in the whole world. According to the data of 2014, it ranks first at market capitalization.
